Improve Your Sales through Packaging
Packaging is all about how the product is presented to the consumer. The reason why the product will be selected by the customer instead of its substitute will greatly depend on how it has been packaged. Packaging makes an appeal to the customer and to some extent; the customer might end up buying things that they did not intend to buy, just because those products caught their attention. Extensive research has shown that most consumers tend to impulse-buy when they see the package that the product is in. So if you want your sales to shoot up, you better get that awesome packaging technique going.
Packaging is all about the message. In addition, you have to have inscriptions that are legible and clear to the human eye. It is not a must that you use writings, you can as well use logos and symbols that are not difficult to interpret. A clear message will have consumers trusting the brand than other products that do not have clear package descriptions. Other than the instructions on how to use the product, the message must also clearly state who it is meant for and the company that produces it.
When you want to get the packaging right, one thing that you do not want to mess with is the color. The color of the package speaks volumes about the product. Different appeals are signified by the different colors. Each color will portray a different message to the buyers. Different messages will be of different colors like the instructions, contacts and addresses, ingredients, logo design, etc. A good example is the different colors that are used when packaging cleaning products, children’s products and foods.
When you get the color right, you cannot afford to mess with the shape of the package. The way the package is shaped might give you a rough idea of what the product will be. It might be a curvy bottle, a toy plane, round ball, toothbrush, etc. Also other package shapes might seem to be gender sensitive. For this reason, the targeted gender will be more appealed to purchase the product than the other gender. A package with handles will also be easier to carry.
Once you have adhered to the above guidelines, you have to be careful not to overdo the whole concept. You will lose a lot of money when you go for a complicated design and your customers will leave you. Everything should be as simple as possible. It is easier to remember a simple designed package than a single one which is complicated.
Lastly, take heed that your package should not harm the environment in any way. Sustainable packaging is the order of the day. You can also design a package that the consumer can use long after the product has been depleted. The product should be well protected by the package. The package you design must be secure in all aspects.
